Duration: 4 days ILT, (28 hours) +1 day for the ICML exam
No prior lubrication experience required
Program Outline
Day 1:
- Why machines need lubrication
- Basic machine and bearing types
- Functions of lubricants
- Viscosity and viscosity index (VI)
Day 2:
- Lubricant types: oils, greases, solid lubricants
- Base oils, additives, and grease basics (thickeners, NLGI grades)
- Lubrication methods (manual & automatic)
- Greasing best practices (quantity, frequency, cleanliness)
Day 3:
- Basic lubrication calculations (volume & intervals)
- Introduction to ultrasound lubrication
- Oil sampling fundamentals and visual inspection
- Recognizing early signs of lubrication problems
Day 4:
- Basics of contamination control and ISO cleanliness codes
- Major contaminants and their effects
- Lubricant storage, handling, and identification systems
- Health, safety, and environmental considerations
